Stop the Cuts to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Midwives
Posted by Rochelle Flood · July 14, 2025 12:38 PMSign our petition to stop the cuts to midwives at Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) Hospital Sydney.
Inner West families deserve access to world-class maternity services, and our nurses and midwives deserve job security.
Right now, 15-20 full-time midwifery positions are on the chopping block at Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) Hospital here in Sydney. These senseless cuts could also see nine beds in the postnatal ward close as part of the sweeping changes outlined by the Sydney Local Health District.
We know NSW nurses and midwives are chronically short-staffed and underfunded, with the lowest wages in the country. This move is the latest in a string of bad decisions that could deliver poorer health outcomes for parents and babies.
The NSW Labor Government cannot allow these cuts to proceed.
Please sign our petition calling on the NSW Health Minister to intervene and prevent these dangerous cuts to midwifery staffing at RPA Hospital.
To the NSW Minister for Health,
We call on the NSW Government to intervene to stop the dangerous cuts to midwifery staffing and beds at Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) Hospital.

Help us shape a vibrant, affordable and sustainable Inner West
Posted by Rochelle Flood · June 23, 2025 5:31 PMSign up to get involved in our campaign to shape a vibrant, affordable, and sustainable Inner West.
24 registrationsImagine an Inner West built for everyone. Where people can find an affordable place to call home, surrounded by world-class infrastructure and plenty of green space. Together, we can shape a future like this for all of us.
The Inner West Council is currently exhibiting its draft Local Environment Plan (LEP) until July 6th, 2025. The plan pushed by NSW Labor and the Inner West Labor Councillors will see more profits for big developers and won't fix the housing affordability crisis.
As a community, we need to push for real solutions that put people and our environment at the heart of the Inner West.
REGISTER TO GET INVOLVED AND BE THE FIRST TO HEAR ABOUT PUBLIC MEETINGS AND OPPORTUNITIES TO SHAPE OUR SUBURBS
The Greens know that planning reforms and outsourcing to the private market won't solve the housing affordability crisis or deliver the world-class infrastructure that our community deserves. That's why we have a plan to:
- Control rents: We can cap rents in council-managed affordable and key worker housing at 30% of tenant income to keep essential workers - our teachers and nurses - in our neighbourhoods.
- Prioritise world-class infrastructure, quality services and green space: New housing must come with new infrastructure like green space, community and sports facilities, and safer walking and cycling paths. The inner West already has the least public open space per person in Sydney. With more development on the way, we need serious investment in public spaces and a clear timeline for delivery.
- Ensure homes and communities are climate ready: The government's obsession with fossil fuels is making heating and cooling homes more costly than ever. We need a planning framework that protects urban tree canopy and ensures our community has access to solar, community batteries, and stronger minimum design standards to make it easier to keep our homes comfortable year-round, while lowering energy bills for everyone.
- Make developers pay their fair share: Developers stand to make massive profits from new developments in the Inner West, yet the draft LEP only requires them to pay 2-5% towards affordable housing. Council must develop a scheme to capture developer contributions at a higher rate to fund affordable homes.
- Protect artists, creatives, and local shops: Innovative, socially-conscious, and community-connected small businesses, artists and creatives have shaped the vibrant, multucultural vibe we all love about the Inner West. The council needs to ensure they aren't priced out of the suburbs they helped to build by offering rent relief and other support if they experience a significant decline in turnover due to construction.
We will be hosting public meetings and online webinars to discuss the proposed LEP reforms. If you want to get involved and find out more about how we can shape a vibrant, affordable and sustainable Inner West - add your details below and we will be in touch with next steps.

End Greyhound Racing at Wentworth Park
Posted by Rochelle Flood · June 02, 2025 12:50 PMSign our petition to end greyhound racing at Wentworth Park and return this valuable green space to our community.
306 signaturesThe use of our public land must be decided by the community, not the gambling and racing industries. But right now, valuable green space in the heart of our City is at risk of continuing to be used for cruel greyhound racing instead of finally being opened up for public use.
Pyrmont and Ultimo are two of the most densely populated suburbs in Australia, and with more development planned, we urgently need the government to deliver more green open space for our growing community.
We also know that our local community does not support greyhound racing continuing on this site. In 2024 alone, more than 390 greyhounds were injured and five tragically lost their lives in races held at Wentworth Park. It's a cruel industry that is beyond redemption.
Our community has long advocated for the closure of this notorious track, and for the parkland to be returned to our community for public use.
Disappointingly, the NSW Labor Government is considering extending the greyhound racing lease at Wentworth Park beyond 2027. We cannot let this happen.
Join us in calling on the NSW Labor Government to end cruel greyhound racing at Wentworth Park and to return this valuable green space to our community for public use.

Ban Gambling Advertising in NSW
Posted by Rochelle Flood · May 28, 2025 5:10 PMSign our petition to help ban gambling advertising in NSW.
145 signaturesChildren and young people should be able to use their devices without being exposed to harmful gambling advertising.
Disappointingly, both the NSW Labor Government and the Federal Government have refused to take action to ban harmful gambling advertising.
Australia already has the highest per capita gambling losses of any country in the world, and experts have warned that exposure to gambling advertising fuels riskier betting behaviour.
South Australia took action to restrict gambling advertising in the state, including black-out periods on television and radio, but Premier Chris Minns is refusing to follow suit. How many more people will develop gambling addictions or face hefty losses before the government acts?
Please sign our petition calling on the NSW Premier to take action.
Dear Premier,
We call on the NSW Government to work with the Federal Government to ban harmful gambling advertising in NSW.

Ferry Service for Annandale
Posted by Rochelle Flood · May 27, 2025 12:17 PMPlease sign our petition calling on the NSW Minister for Transport to deliver a much-needed ferry service for Annandale.
233 signaturesImagine hopping on the ferry in Annandale and heading straight across the harbour into the CBD. A ferry wharf in Annandale would increase the number of public transport options available for our community, lower daily travel costs, and help reduce congestion in our suburbs.
The NSW Government has told our community they will deliver a ferry for Annandale, but we're now more than two years into the current government and the ferry is nowhere to be seen. With congestion in Annandale worse than ever after the opening of the Rozelle Interchange, the government needs to act quickly to reduce traffic.
Please join us in calling on the NSW Minister for Transport to deliver the new ferry service for Annandale.
We call on the NSW Minister for Transport to deliver a much-needed ferry service for Annandale to help relieve congestion and provide quicker, cheaper, and more sustainable transport options for our community.

Creating Safer Streets at 30km/h
Posted by Rochelle Flood · May 21, 2025 9:34 AMPlease sign our petition supporting safer speeds of 30km/h on local streets
92 signaturesImagine a city where streets are built as shared spaces for people, not just cars. Where kids can safely walk and ride to school, and where more people are comfortable hopping on their bikes to get to work, rather than sitting in endless traffic. This is what we should be aspiring to achieve, in a global city like Sydney.
The expert evidence is clear that the best way to create safer and more liveable neighbourhoods is to introduce safer speeds of 30km/h on local streets.
A person struck by a vehicle at 50km/h has only a 10% chance of survival. At 30km/h, the survival rate increases to 90%. Safer speeds on local streets keep everyone safe, regardless of whether they're walking, riding their bike, or driving their car.
Please sign our petition calling on the Minister for Roads to introduce safer speeds of 30km/h on local streets.

Let’s Work Together to Restore Our Community's Parking Spaces
Posted by Libby Fallance · May 05, 2025 12:34 PMSupport Our Petition for Transparency and Fairness in Local Decision-Making
44 signaturesRecently, new signage was installed on our street, resulting in the removal of 25 much-needed parking spaces used by local residents every day. These changes were made without any prior notice or consultation, leaving many of us surprised and frustrated.
We believe that decisions affecting our daily lives should be made with transparency, fairness, and respect for community input.
We kindly ask NSW Maritime Police to work with Inner West Council to:
✅ Review the recent changes and consider reversing the signage and parking removal
✅ Engage with residents to find a fair and balanced solution that meets everyone’s needsWe are calling on the NSW Maritime Police for transparency and a review of the tow away zones.

Reopen the Glebe Island Bridge
Posted by Libby Fallance · April 14, 2025 12:21 PMPlease sign our petition calling on the NSW Minister for Transport to restore and reopen the Glebe Island Bridge
159 signaturesImagine having a dedicated walking and cycling link between Rozelle and Pyrmont. The long abandoned Glebe Island Bridge is a missing link that would significantly improve walking and cycling opportunities in our city, providing a safe and scenic link for pedestrians and cyclists alike.
Community advocates have worked to restore the Glebe Island Bridge for more than a decade. After years of inaction, it's so disappointing to hear NSW Labor suggest that we will be waiting until 2030 to see this bridge reopened.
With congestion on the peninsula making it harder to get into the city than ever before, the NSW Government needs to prioritise reopening the Glebe Island Bridge to give people a safer walking and cycling option. This would also help lower transport costs for our community.
We call on the NSW Minister for Transport to prioritise restoring and reopening the Glebe Island Bridge to improve walking and cycling links for our community.

50 Cent Public Transport Fares
Posted by Rochelle Flood · April 01, 2025 2:21 PMPlease sign our petition below to support 50 cent public transport fares for NSW.
14 signaturesOur community deserves affordable public transport that gets us where we want to go when we want to get there.
Unfortunately, Sydney’s public transport system is often unreliable, with fares that are far higher than other states in Australia and other countries around the world. Sydney commuters spend an average of $50 a week on public transport, or $2600 a year. In a cost of living crisis, this really adds up.
That's why we're calling on the NSW Government to introduce 50 cent public transport fares across the state. Lowering fares to 50c would save full-time workers a whopping $2,160 a year. Please add your name to our petition, to support 50c public transport fares in NSW.
We call on the NSW Premier to introduce 50 cent public transport fares to lower daily transport costs for our community.

Stop Native Forest Logging
Posted by Rochelle Flood · March 05, 2025 2:27 PMPlease sign our petition below to stop Native Forest Logging and deliver the promised Great Koala National Park
85 signaturesAustralia’s native forests are among the most biodiverse and ecologically significant systems on earth. They provide critical habitat for wildlife, support clean air and water, and store enormous amounts of carbon.
Disappointingly, the NSW Labor Government has not supported calls from environmental advocates and the broader community to ban destructive native forest logging. They've also failed to deliver a Great Koala National Park - something that has been promised by various leaders since 2015.
Ongoing logging operations are releasing millions of tonnes of carbon and driving species to the brink of extinction. We know what needs to happen to protect our living planet now and for generations to come. The NSW Government must finalise plans for the Great Koala National Park, and they need to end native forest logging.
We call on the Minister for the Environment to urgently finalise plans for the Great Koala National Park and to ban destructive native forest logging.
